Making your own chicken coop does not take much especially with the materials you will be employing. There are some standard requisites that will make for a decent looking, convenient-to-care chicken house.

Wood

You will need some wood to build a chicken coop. This is probably one of the most fundamental chicken coop materials. When you purchase your wood, make sure that it has under gone treatment and it is water repellant. If you purchase untreated wood, you must purchase a water sealer and treat the wood by just following the manufacturers’ directions. This is critical because you need your chickens to remain dry. A moist wood will drive diseases to spread more rapidly than a dry and treated chicken coop.

Chicken Wire

One of the key chicken house materials as well is the chicken wire. You might need this depending on how many chickens you project to support when starting or after a year. You will utilize the chicken wire to produce the chicken run. You require having enough so that you can bury it in the ground at least eight inches. This will save your chickens from predatory animals that could crawl underneath the chicken wire to get at your chickens.
