How to get more traffic using Twitter For Business
September 16th, 2009 by Mike

Web 2.0 property Twitter has carved itself quite a media storm this year with a glut of stars discussing Twitter on their podcasts , and business strategists telling us we can use Twitter to new business leads , the talk about Twitter is hard to avoid . You most likely have friends and work colleagues on Twitter and your major suppliers have probably asked you to be their Twitter fan . So the million dollar question is this . What are YOU doing about it for yourself?

I don’t think many people understand the Twitter phenomena. And that’s probably because it can mean different things to different people.

Despite what you think of Twitter for yourself, there are opportunities you should deploy and there’s a great FREE training video about that at http://www.TrafficHug.com/twittervideo/ but whatever you do, you should be doing something. The smallest benefit will be extra chances for impressions , ideally with some way of people finding you by your keyword, or your name. I mean a few people are just going to wonder if your business (or you) are on Twitter and type in twitter dot com slash acme widgets. Now it will be embarrassing is a cyber squatter is sitting on your own name, so another good reason to make sure you secure your place in the Twit’o'sphere. (By the way things can be done about cyber squatters, just ask me.)

In other articles we talk about how to get noticed for your keyword and how to manage your account for targeted conversion (also covered well in that free video I mentioned earlier) but let’s do something we can do right now.

A lot of people envision Twitter traffic as coming from within Twitter itself . A concept most Twitter directories promote . But with Twitter , the advantages of having your normal traffic join you on Twitter are well worth having . So enormous that we need to take action .

The easiest thing is to add a Twitter “badge” to your web presences . A badge is just an image showing who you are on Twitter with an active link to your Twitter profile. In the videos I mentioned earlier , they go in to how you extend that concept , but let’s stick to a simple badge for now .

WHERE CAN I GET MY BADGE ?
You can get your own customised Twitter badge at zero cost from here ;
http://wwwTwitterHug.com/twitter/category/badge/ – Custom Twitter Badge for free .

You just paste the HTML it provides in to your page .

It also works on WordPress blogs. I’ve put one on all of my own blogs.

The Twitter badge is housed in its own little HTML DIV tag so should exist easily almost anywhere.

You can create an HTML table or div layer to house it, then you can just paste the code in verbatim . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Adobe Dreamweaver users can just insert an AP Layer (from the insert menu) and then paste the code in to that using the HTML code view pane.

Integrating your Twitter page with your existing web properties is an essential strategy. One you can do in the next 10 minutes, with a few mouse clicks,
