The Story Of Kanturk Castle - A Mans Home Is His Castle
Jul 28th, 2009 by Mike

“A man’s home is his castle…” so the wise proverb goes. Iironically in this case, it seems Kanturk Castle, Co. Cork, Ireland never became a place of living. Regardless of it, what did get constructed was and is awesome. The main building offers four story, while each tower has five story.

Now as you stroll around this great old building, it’s hard to think that it was raised in about 1601. 4 hundred years are over and it is still remaining strong. ‘Bualadh bos’ to the stonemasons. (Bualadh bos is Irish/Gaelic for applause or praise) Legend tells that sEven stonemasons all named John worked on the Castle. Hence at one time the building was known as “Carrig-na-Shane-Saor” i.e. The Rock of John the Mason.

There are various points of view on whom specifically the castle was built for. Some say it was MacDonogh MacCarthy, while others say it was Dermot McOwen. Still the dating of the building cannot be agreed upon. normally it is said to be late 16th century early 17th century.

Why was it that he never occupied it? Well, there is some more to that adage: ‘A man’s home is his castle …, yet that is, ‘until the Queen arrives’. The neighbors of Kanturk Castle were getting a bit worried about the hugeness of this building and to the reasons of its being. The Privy Council, which was like close consultants to the Queen of England at the time, was made aware of this and ordered the work on the structure to stop. Hence, ‘A man’s home is his castle until the queen arrives’.

So disappointed the overlord was, it’s reported that he smashed up the leaded glass and the tiles and flung them into the river.

Down through time after that the property changed ownership numerous times. Now it is controlled by An Taisce - The National Trust for Ireland, since 14th July 2000.

Why not come and see Kanturk Castle for yourself. As you stroll around imagine existing in the 15/1600s with the Mac Donagh MacCarthy’s at Kanturk Castle.

Compare important horse insurance providers and effect your individual insurance policy
Jul 28th, 2009 by Mike

On the German insurance market there are numerous horse insurance providers. As a horse owner it is not easy to find the best supplier and contract for your specific requirements. How are you able to find the right equine insurance at a cheap rate? The following site offers a free comparison of German horse insurances: Pferde Haftpflicht. There you can retrieve your individual horse liability insurance comparison in a few moments. You will get the right horse owner insurance offer from a great number of insurers.

Who should contract horse insurance? Every responsible horse owner should have a liability insurance against the current risk. Because every horse once can cause a damage. Here are some important aspects which should be considered when thinking about such insurance and searching the best solution:

Without a horse liability insurance every horse owner carries a very high risk of liability when his four-legged friend once causes a damage. If the horse runs over the street and causes a traffic accident, one can be held liable for all damages of persons and vehicles. If you do not have a horse liability insurance, it is the victim that confronts you personally with their demands. You then have to decide whether to pay or to dispute by yourself or to mandate a lawyer. A horse insurance would have done all that for you. Then you do not stand alone in the event of damage but have professional support by your side.

Your equine insurance also takes over the legal costs of the victim, which you had to pay by yourself without such coverance. Having such insurance, the clerk of your insurance works for you on the claims made by the injured party. So you have a professional by your side to decide which claims are right and which are not. It is not necessary to visit all the equine insurance suppliers by oneself when looking for a good solution. You can get an online comparison and even contract your insurance here: Haftpflichtversicherung fuers Pferd. If your horse causes an accident or other damage, the injured party will charge you personally if you do not have a horse insurance. Then you will have to cover with your complete private equity for possible damage. With a liability insurance for your horse you can also get help if unauthorized charges are put on you as the owner.

Without having a horse insurance, you must deal by yourself with the demands of the victim or you need to mandate a attorney to do so for you. The convenient annual premium payment for a horse owner insurance protects you from a high financial risk. By arranging a deterrent fee you can reach nice savings concerning the contribution payment. Your equine insurance manages the handling of the case and the claims of third parties. If your insurance comes to the conclusion that you are not liable for something, they help you even if anyone sues you therefore.

what is internet marketing?
Jul 26th, 2009 by Mike

Internet marketing is carrying out certain activities that create sales and/or capture leads from potential customers that are surfing the net .

This means getting your website to rank in Google, Yahoo MSN, article directories, blog directories, RSS Feeds, Social Networks, and other search related sites so that loads up when a prospective buyer of yours types in a “keyword phrase” that relates to your operation .

This is something of a new and mysterious art  these days and is a constantly changing playing field . As time marches on there is a greater need to enlist specialists and consultants that work only in this arena, in order for companies to be able to get their websites on the first page of Google’s search engine results for the keywords that will generate sales and leads. This service is called SEO or search engine optimization. The other way  for  businesses to get the same results is to arrange for their employees to participate in focused training seminars, or one on one training, to gain the necessary skill sets to do this work in-house

Internet marketing has come to include pay per click advertising. Ads that are postioned within the results pages of search engines (when you do a search, they show up on the right hand side of the page) that are written by advertisers to be displayed on the page when certain keywords or phrases are searched. Each time a internet user clicks on the ad, they are forwarded to \ they end up on the advertiser’s website, and the advertiser is charged for that “click”. This is how Google makes most of its income.

The future of Internet marketing is the social networking sites like Facebook. Here, the best form of advertising  will be “viral” and more “virtual word of mouth”. This is much more complex than search engine optimization and pay per click advertising, but has the potential to be much more lucrative!

There are many companies that specialise in assisting company’s in their Internet Marketing efforts.

Error Doctor solves computer problems!
Jul 26th, 2009 by Mike

Computers suffer from errors! This is a constant and undeniable reality of PC usage. Even when you buy a computer brand new and you have it in perfect shape, it will still develop problems within a short period of time. A tool like Error Doctor could help you eliminate the nasty uninstall processes, the pestering Windows registry errors as well as the spyware and adware that may invade your computer.

You can detect the PC warning signs in the slow operation reaction, in the instability of the system and the error messages displayed from time to time. Error Doctor should allow one to eliminate this lack of PC reliability and regain an optimal operational mode within a short period of time. Here follow some of the improvements that a good PC optimizer can perform on a faulty computer system.

A rapid solution to error fixing

If you are a non-technical PC user, then you may not be aware of how quickly the errors can be repaired when you have the right tool. The Error Doctor scans the computer thoroughly in order to increase the computer time of reaction to various commands. Moreover, it will prevent crashes and data loss in the operating system.

Then, the removal of unwanted programs will become a lot easier, rebooting will occur less frequently while the quality of the startup will improve. The good PC performance results in fact from the ability of the Error Doctor to tackle with the elements that disrupt the computer functionality and cause screen freezing or unexpected shut-downs.

Error identification

The Error Doctor was created to find and fix all the problems related to the Windows registry. In order to get convinced and see for yourself how many things may require intervention, you can run an absolutely free scan of your computer. Regardless how technically advanced the PC may be, it is still exposed to errors and will show them as such on the scan.

Once the computer is cleaned, the cycle of registry errors generation will continue given the fact that it is interrelated with the Windows functionality as such. Hence, maintain the registry cleaner available and use it periodically to keep the system in optimal shape. Set the Error Doctor on the automatic or manual scan option and thus keep on the safe side.

A Close Shave
Jul 26th, 2009 by Mike

Shaving is one of those activities that men endure, rather than look forward to. And for hundreds of years a metal blade scraped across the face has been how it was done.

Times have changed since then, of course, and these days you can find a new line of electric shavers which comes with an improved facial cream emulsion that makes shaving feel silky smooth. When you have less irritation on your skin, you feel better. You look better too.

One range of electric shavers offers a Flex Tracker System. The tracker system automatically traces the curves of your face helping to protect against skin irritation. For those hard to reach curved areas of the face you want optimum skin contact and flex tracker offers just that. The flexing mechanism gives the head section of the shaver the ability to tilt forward and backward. That grips the hair firmly by the roots, which gives a closer shave.

Glide Rings help the shaver move smoothly over your face. With a reduced friction while moving over your skin, the glide rings truly help the cutting surface to glide smoothly over your face. The Philips HS8060 Rotary Shaving System offers a glide ring system that smoothly follows the contours of your face.

The HS 8060 also has an integrated cartridge refill system. Just by pumping the shaving conditioner from the refill can you can ensure a continuous supply of moisturizing, smooth shave producing coverage.

There are many information sites online giving information about the HS8060 .

Philips HS8060 Nivea Moisturizing Rotary Shaving System saves you time and energy because you don’t have to apply any moisturiser on you face prior to shaving. Wet your face and press the shaving conditioner button. The shaver’s cutting surface will then glide smoothly across your skin.

How Green are Promotional Balloons?
Jul 26th, 2009 by Mike

Introduction

There are people who have some worries about the impact of promotional balloons on the environment and safety issues of printed promotional items and around the effects of working with latex. However fear is often a derivative of ignorance so becoming knowledgeable enables people to make informed choices. Where there is understanding and information, the mind does not need to fill in the empty spaces with fearful conjecture and catastrophising.

The idea of balloon safety is not really about balloons so much as the materials from which they are made. The mass of balloons are made from latex or natural rubber which is actually a very environmentally friendly product and has been around for decades. More recently foil balloons have been produced that are made from thin non-stretch fabric which is basically metalized plastic film which does not bio-degrade like latex. This type of balloon is invariably filled with helium so that it rises up and is secured with a ribbon so that it doesn’t float away.

So what is Latex?

Balloons have been around for many years and the latex from which modern balloons are made come from the Hevea Brasiliensis tree or as many people know it, the rubber tree. These trees which grow in tropical climes, such as South East Asia, do not need to be cut down to obtain the rubber. The mature trees are tapped regularly by making a Y cut in the bark and placing a small container at the bottom of the Y to collect the milky sap which oozes from the tree. This is the basic latex from which so many different|variable|diverse} goods are made. Latex is a highly sustainable product providing work and income for people in some of the poorest countries in the world.

The management and maintenance of the rubber plantations means there is no deforestation, which helps in the issue of global warming. The trees use carbon dioxide and release oxygen back into the atmosphere, which is the opposite process to industrial pollution which contributes to the substantial increase in greenhouse gases. So as a basic resource it is an environmentally friendly, regenerating product.

Uses of Natural Rubber latex (NRL)

Natural Rubber latex (NRL) is used in thousands of everyday items we take for granted in our modern lifestyle. A balloon is just one of many commercial products we recognise as obviously being made from rubber. Some of the more essential items made from NRL are car, lorry, plane and bus tyres which carry us and the essential consumer products we use daily, around the world. vital items such as underwear elastic and elastic used in fashion day wear, shoe soles, carpets, rubber bands and erasers have been in use for many decades. More recent consumer necessities come in the form of buttons in calculators and remote controls.

Balloon Publicity

Balloons races or balloon releases are a way of generating publicity at major fund raising events. A message or company logo is printed onto the balloons and then released into the sky in large numbers. This is a stunning sight when thousands of helium filled balloons of different colours rise up into the atmosphere all together.

Balloon releases are required by law to only use rubber balloons filled with the appropriate balloon gas.

Rubber balloons inflated with Helium typically only stay afloat for a few hours days if they are not punctured by birds, trees or other sharp objects that they might encounter. To retain the buoyancy and increase the float time of a gas filled balloon the inside can be coated with a special polymer solution which reduces leakage.

Safety and Environmental Concerns

The concerns over the years from the general public have been about the impact of large numbers of balloons being released into the atmosphere. Naturally some people believe that massed balloons may be harmful to wild, farm and domestic animals and that on landing they may pose a serious hazard through ingestion or entanglement.

However all latex balloons are completely natural coming from the Hevea tree and they break down at about the same rate as oak leaves. Oxidation starts to occur within an hour of a balloon being inflated and during the process of decay, by natural exposure, nutrients are released into the soil. The oxidation is sometimes visible as a cloudy appearance when balloons are exposed to outdoor conditions, direct sunlight and heat. However research shows that latex balloons under varying conditions take about 6 months to decompose so they are even suitable for composting.

Reputable balloon companies should only use bio-degradable latex these days. For example, all balloons produced by B-loony, the UK’s largest manufacturer of printed promotional balloons, are made from bio-degradable latex.

It is estimated that 90/95% of balloons released rise to an altitude of approximately 5 miles at which height the cold will cause the balloon to become brittle and shatter in to miniscule pieces. Balloon remains are unlikely to cause harm on landing, even if ingested, as the latex and the dyes used in latex colouring are non-toxic and completely bio-degradable.

Regulations on Balloon Releases

The UK’s Balloon Trade Association NABAS, is very aware of its responsibilities to the environment and has circulated a Code of Conduct for balloon releases giving advice to ensure the protection of the environment. Only natural rubber latex may be used for balloon releases. Balloons must be hand tied and labels attached are required to be recycle-able paper. Plastic valves or wire should not be used.

Any Large balloon event of more than 5,000 balloons requires permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) which has to be applied for in writing at least 28 days before the event. The CAA like to be informed also for balloon releases of up to 5,000 balloons.

Printed Balloons

Recently I was looking for a balloon which had a 90 printed on it because my grandmother is ninety this week and we are giving her a big celebratory party. However there were no balloons in the store where I was looking, that had any number above 60. Maybe the suppliers of printed balloons don’t think people over 60 want to be reminded of their age. I did think it would be a good idea to have a balloon which could have the number you want attached once it is inflated. They do it with some birthday cards where you buy a separate number and stick it onto the card of your choice.

Why not deliver your message to your customers using printed balloons in a box.

There are a great number of possibilities for the use of helium and printed balloons. They can be used as a marketing tool to deliver a message about a company or event, or to highlight a product launch or marketing campaign. The logo or message is specially printed onto the balloons by the company supplying the service and they will also deliver the balloons to the customer. It is obviously more economical to order large quantities and for balloon releases or races this would not be an issue.

Health and Safety for People Working with Latex

People who work with Latex on a habitual basis have to be concerned about the long term effects of exposure to the material. Natural rubber latex is a plant product and as such contains proteins to which some individuals may become allergic. The proteins naturally present in latex may cause allergies either through direct contact with skin or by inhalation of a powder. Latex gloves may be powdered with cornstarch which attach to NRL allergens causing them to be airborne and possibly inhaled when the gloves are used. Those most at risk are health care workers who use latex gloves on a daily basis and those undergoing multiple surgical procedures.

Some people experience irritation to the skin on contact with NRL but it is not a true allergy but rather an irritant contact dermatitis. Sensitised people however may find they have an allergic reaction when in direct contact with balloons. Other individuals who may have an allergic reaction are people who already suffer with atopic allergic diseases such as hay fever, asthma and some irritant skin conditions or a history of certain food allergies of banana, avocado, kiwi and chestnuts.

If you are prone to any of the above conditions then it is probably not wise to work in a company producing items made from NRL. However cornstarch is not used as a de-tack powder in the manufacture of toy balloons. Instead they are lightly coated with an inorganic filler such as calcium carbonate diatomaceous earth and clays which do not bind to latex proteins. Natural Rubber Latex is a very cost effective material that is widely used throughout the world and for the majority of individuals there is no form of clinical risk.

Hand held flags are another great low cost promotional product. These are very cost effective and will provide a colourful impact to your event. Because they are made of paper they are bio-degradable and can be made of recycled materials. It is easy to have messages printed on them and you can create your own scheme and effect.

Hand held flags are small rectangles of paper, which can be printed on one or both sides, and mounted on a plastic or biodegradable stick. These paper flags have become particularly popular over recent years because they are colourful, attractive, and can be purchased at unbelievably low prices. Paper flags are more often used today to advertise and promote fund raising projects, special occasions or sporting events. Youngsters particularly enjoy waving flags as part of the crowd during a special event.

As a promotional item hand waving flags are a very cost effective way of getting your message across.

Obviously paper flags are a great way to get your promotional message across. They can be printed on one or both sides with the company logo and they can also be used as very economical promotional gifts.

Because paper flags are made from paper and the print area is flat and a set size, it is possible to choose almost any artwork you can think of to customise your event. The quality and finish of the flags is exceptionally high because they are digitally printed. The printing firm will probably have an impressive range of paper flags designs as samples because they usually hold back a few from each print run.

All samples will be from real events ranging from world promotions, product launches, sports teams events or fund raising campaigns and there will be no limit to the number that can be printed. Paper flags are a popular choice for other promotional events such as VIP visits, sales events and advertising. Many football fans carry paper flags with their club logos or colours to advertise their enthusiasm for their favourite club whether it’s the Premier League, the World Championship, or a local cup final.

Foil Balloons

Foil balloons are very attractive with shiny reflective surfaces and can be printed with full colour pictures and patterns to a customer’s order. Foil balloons have the advantage of being lightweight, longer-lasting, with increased buoyancy. They are perfect for eye catching promotions, special celebrations and for product launches.

There are further environmental concerns about the safety of the foil balloon because they don’t biodegrade or shred like rubber balloons. However they are not allowed to be used in balloon releases or races, and need to be carefully disposed of after use. The most important characteristic of metalized nylon or foil balloons is its ability to keep the helium gas from escaping for several weeks.

Balloons for Work

Latex balloons are an environmentally friendly product. Not only do they provide entertainment and recreational use bringing pleasure to thousands of children, they are valuable in a work situation for research, medicine, promotion and education.

Balloons are often used for meteorological work and in more recent years they are used in some medical procedures for a variety of conditions such as angioplasty, catheters for weight loss, and sinus procedures. Also balloons are a widely used teaching device to demonstrate Newton’s third law of physics and the functioning of a rocket. Once the balloon is inflated, the mouth of the balloon is released and the greater pressure of air inside, forces its way out so that the elasticity of the balloon contracts and the balloon is propelled forward making a rude noise. This is fundamentally how a rocket works.

Without balloons valuable services could not be performed and the public would be the losers in the long run. Professional quality balloons are made from 100% biodegradable latex.

Conclusion

The concerns about balloon safety primarily arise from the materials of which they are made. Although Latex is a natural substance and has been used for many years without harm, people who work in the arena of manufacture are exposed to some degree of risk and employers will conduct thorough risk assessments . Latex balloons are considered very safe and environmentally friendly, but problems will arise when a balloon is inflated using a plastic valve or with a ribbon attached which are not biodegradable.

There are a number of industry bodies which control and monitor balloon activities on a large scale and health and safety regulations in place for those working in industries manufacturing or using latex. The advantages of having and using latex products, certainly outweighs any perceived dangers of such an environmentally safe material.

The Popularity Of Bicycle Touring
Jul 25th, 2009 by Mike

Touring on road bicycles has become more and more popular.  When I was young, I first recall seeing men on touring bicycles climbing the highways through the mountain areas of Vermont and New Hampshire.  I was intrigued watching these riders climbing the long inclines without letting up.  Loving the outdoors and especially the mountains, I knew this was the only way to really enjoy the magnificent views.  That was when I noticed the type of bicycle they were riding was much different then the mountain bike I grew up with~owned.

A few months ago I met a middle aged man who lived on the east coast.  Each summer he would fly with his touring bicycle to Oregon.  Then he’d spend several weeks riding across the country coming home.   Needless to say, his bicycle was outfitted with touring bags and other accessories.  As the sport’s popularity has risen, so has the demand for road bicycles.  In the past, the only place to find a good tour bicycle was at local bike shop which would usually be limited to one make of bicycle.  Usually these local shops are quite expensive.  Lets face it, the price of many serious tour bicycles simply put them out of reach for younger people just entering the sport.

I recall traveling a couple hours to find the specific Schwinn road bike I was searching for.  Fortunately today, that is not the case.  You can find all the biggest names in road bicycles on the internet.  The additional benefit is most can be found at affordable prices also.  The interest in bicycle touring has also given rise to the availability of specialized bicycle parts, accessories and bicycle clothing.  You would be hard pressed to find adult bicycle accessories and clothing at your local discount store.  But this is not the case online.

The obvious addition that bicycle touring requires is a way to carry your personal gear, clothing and camping equipment on long trips.  The popularity of touring has provided riders a huge variety of upgrade bicycle parts and accessories.  It is quite easy to find the very best in bicycle parts and even special bicycling clothing for your long trips.  Serious bikers can easily upgrade just about their entire bicycle by traveling no further then their PC.

Being Healthy
Jul 25th, 2009 by Mike

The human body has a hard job to do looking after everything we expect of it so in return we should take more time looking after it. Natural health is one of the ways many people are opting for as they have come to appreciate all that Mother Nature has to offer in the ways of ingredients that help the body. There is no reason why we should always wait for something bad to happen when in most circumstances we can prevent it by adopting certain ways.

Flotrol

This should be a subject that is taken seriously as your physical and mental health is your responsibility and why would you want to entrust that with someone else? Wanting to look after your body does not mean you should be institutionalized even though it does seem to be an alien concept these days. It requires an integrated approach to how you live your life, where you live and work in addition to other factors even including relationships.

DrFloras

The best place to learn more about natural methods of staying healthy it is best to carry out some research whether on the internet where you will find many websites or to invest in a book. This is not a short lived craze because increasing numbers of people realize that we should not be as unhealthy as we are and are taking steps to rectify this situation. One area is with the amount of fast food we stuff into our bodies with no thought about how it’s affecting us.

Venapro

For those of you that this scenario relates to then either start eating better or start looking into what supplements you need to start taking to make up the deficiency your current diet is causing. Perhaps when you look into this further you will realize just how you are neglecting your body’s good health and will do something to stop it. They say knowledge is power and in this instance the knowledge will give you the power to change your life for the better.

This is a philosophy as much as anything else and this might be the hardest issue for you to grasp. However, being healthy isn’t just about stopping sickness as a healthy body is one that is more active and where a person enjoys increased energy and vitality levels. If you truly want to succeed in this path it will require a commitment you may not have shown in any other part of your life previously but being healthy is your choice.
